FedEx has spent much time and money to prevent the unionisation of its staff, according to research by The Guardian newspaper. Staff claim to have been “bombarded” with anti-union messages at mandatory anti-union meetings. The company, whose pilots are already unionised, has spent some $837,000 between 2014 and 2018 on ‘union avoidance consultants’ – a move which, claims this article, was “largely successful”. An interesting read.

January 14, 2020 at 11:12 pmI worked for a FedEx smart post location in Northeast Pennsylvania and I can assure you that it was told to us many times that if we even talked to union representatives that our employment would be terminated..FedEx cannot be trusted. That location has since been shut down but they would start out every shift with that statement. We were not allowed to bring phones into the workplace and I can imagine it was so we couldn’t record the management staff threatening us about the unions. I believe even in my orientation there was a whole video section on anti union and the repercussions if one inquired to join a union.
