UK haulage and logistics operator Wincanton has appointed Richard Gifford (pictured above) as its chief information officer (CIO).
Mr Gifford joins the company from British multinational Carillion, where he served as CIO for four years.
Previously, Mr Gifford had been part of the Kent and Medway NHS information services team and has held IT director roles with several other companies over the course of his career, which began in 1986 following graduation from Sheffield Hallam University.
Mr Gifford will be based at the company’s Chippenham headquarters and will be responsible for IT and digitised solutions. Wincanton chief executive Adrian Colman said: “Technology and innovation are at the heart of our business and as supply chains become more digitised it is important to make sure we have the right person in this pivotal role.
“With his wealth of experience and enthusiasm, I am confident that Richard is that person and I look forward to working with him to make Wincanton a leader in the digitised supply chain.”
