The Dutch parliament will this afternoon discuss proposals for a local rule intended to ease Schiphol’s slot restrictions. The discussions follow our report this week, in which Croon Callaghan Aviation Consulting partner Jochem Croon claimed the Amsterdam gateway’s slots regulations were “illegal” and anti-competitive. Mr Croon’s antipathy to the rules has been matched by others in the air freight community, with several freighter operators having already switched to rival European hubs. Air Cargo News now reports that the country’s air freight community has called on the minister of infrastructure and public works to implement the rule before the start of the summer season (25 March).
