While the direct effect on Lufthansa Cargo could have been worse, with freighters operating and and the airline trying to keep long-haul flights going, it’s a tough time of year for strikes. The VC union has promised more strikes tomorrow (short-haul) and Wednesday (short- and long-haul), following last week’s four-day strike and subsequent failure to reach an agreement. Lufthansa is trying to get the courts to force pilots back to work – but much of the reputational, as well as operational, damage has already been done – at a critical time of year.
