Some of the cargo that shifted from US west coast ports to their competitors on the country’s eastern seaboard is likely to stay there, despite the fact that much of the congestion has now cleared. Savannah, Charleston and New York New Jersey have all reported big double-digit throughput increases for the first quarter of the year, and both importers and exporters are indicating a continued preference for a split supply chain strategy
