Kimberly-Clark connects its supply chain to the store shelf

An interesting case study of a big shipper’s supply chain. Kimberly-Clark has made it a mission to make and store exactly the correct amount of inventory – but it’s been a long journey. Now, by using demand-driven forecasts and reconfiguring its distribution strategy, among other things, it has succeeded in taking one to three days’ worth of ‘safety’ stock out of the system and finished goods inventory has fallen 19%.
