MSC appoints Michael Collins and Jonathan Burke to its UK board

MSC has made two new appointments to the board of directors of its UK subsidiary.

The Geneva-headquartered company has named Jonathan Burke as UK operations director and Michael Collins has been promoted to the newly created role of commercial director.

The appointment represents a return to the company for Mr Burke, following the retirement of Kelvin Wilden. He was its general manager of intermodal transport and container control between 2008 and 2014, and was credited with “remodelling MSC’s road haulage operation”.

Since then he also had a stint at Wincanton, leading its container logistics business.

Mr Collins joined MSC in 2000 and has managed various export trades including the US and Asia. His most recent role was export commercial general manager.

MSC UK managing director Dan Everitt said: “I am delighted to welcome Michael and Jonathan to the board. They are highly experienced respected managers within MSC and in the wider transport and logistics industry.

“These appointments come at an exciting time for the company; international transport is facing new challenges from an economic, political, social and technological standpoint. I am confident that MSC’s management team and staff of 600 UK-based employees will bring the company continuing success.”

He also paid tribute to Mr Wilden: “For almost 14 years Kelvin has been an enormous asset and loyal member of the MSC family. We would like to thank him for his tremendous efforts and achievements at the company and wish him a wonderful – and relaxing – retirement.”
