The numbers tell their own story: India produced about 127m tonnes of milk in 2012, but only has an estimated 70,000-80,000 tonnes of proper milk storage capacity; the year before it produced 147m tonnes of vegetables but cold chain capacity is barely 9m tonnes. Each year, some 30-40% of its food is binned. Massive investment is needed, but that brings with it considerable opportunities.
