Hamburger Hafen und Logistik is to improve the traffic situation at Hamburg’s largest container terminal, Burchardkai, through a series of measures. It has brought forward a number of construction projects which had been envisaged for the medium term.
Dr. Stefan Behn, who is responsible for the Container segment on the Executive Board of HHLA, says of this decision to bring forward the planned construction measures: “Trucks are a key mode of transport at Container Terminal Burchardkai and throughout the Port of Hamburg and will remain so in future. In the past weeks we have once again seen that the container terminal as a whole can only operate at full capacity with optimal truck handling conditions. To optimise the ter- minal, we have now brought forward a series of measures which we had planned for the medium term. Through these measures we will also prepare Burchardkai for further growth in the volume of trucks handled.”
