Customer behaviour has come under the spotlight at UPS, the “logistics giant” announcing new audit fees and surcharge levels for oversized shipments. DC Velocity reports that the Atlanta-based transport operator will impose fees of either $1 or 6% of the total cost of corrections – whichever is the larger – for any incorrectly labelled package dimensions. Furthermore, UPS is also to raise surcharges by some 30% on both packages exceeding its maximum dimensional requirements and oversized pallets. In both cases the cost will jump from $500 to $650.
