Asia-Europe spot container rates soar ahead of annual contract talks

The fluctuating freight rate situation on the Asia-Europe container shipping trade appears to be becoming more severe than ever. Recent months have seen steep declines, but over the last few days rates have surged upwards once more. Will it last? Unlikely, says Drewry Maritime Research, suggesting it may be time to use new mechanisms for shippers seeking stability.
