An interesting article on air freight at Indianapolis. While the airport has seen some declines in volumes, it is nevertheless optimistic and hopes to steal some market share from Chicago. It has been stymied by restructuring at FedEx, which acounted for 98% of Indianapolis’ cargo last year. However, FedEx is spending $170m to upgrade its hub and is expecting increased revenue. It’s a good snapshot of an airport hoping to see decent growth in air cargo – and how it will earn from that.
