The buzz in the US is speculation that FedEx, which has been busy retiring freighters, is set to give a big order to Boeing. Leeham’s sources indicate it may order as many as 50 767-300Fs, and possibly up to 10 777Fs as well. The express carrier has a board meeting scheduled this month in Seattle, and is said to be keen on the profitability of 767s. As Cargo Facts rather wryly notes: “Given that Boeing is in the business of making and selling airplanes, and that FedEx obviously desires more 767-300Fs, it would be surprising if the two companies were not at least discussing some kind of deal.”
