FedEx Freight is to furlough a “small number of employees” as it faces a decline in freight volumes. It said adjustments would be made on a location-by-location basis, driven by volumes. Staff initially will be given the chance to volunteer to furlough. Health benefits would be extended up to four months for furloughed employees, rather than 30 days, and idled workers would maintain eligibility for expanded state and federal unemployment benefits under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act. The Daily Memphian reports.
