Some interesting stats and analysis from CAPA, on western China’s air freight exports. Chengdu, Chongqing and Zhengzhou combined have now, for Cathay Pacific, overtaken Shanghai to become its largest Chinese freight market. While it has not been a market that has favoured all-comers, with Lufthansa Cargo withdrawing its short-lived operation at Chongqing last year, citing unpredictable volumes and low yields, last year the three manufacturing cities saw considerable growth in export volumes. A useful read for anyone considering this challenging market.
