$1bn worth of cocaine was seized from one of MSC’s ships yesterday at the US port of Philadelphia. The find is the second of the year, after $38m worth of the drug was found aboard the 9,400 teu MSC Desiree – again at Philadelphia. Splash 24/7 says the latest seizure totalled 16.5 tonnes and that members of the crew had been arrested and were now facing federal charges. One officer has reportedly admitted to a role in the smuggling operation.
