Taiwan’s shipping companies are getting it in the neck from both authorities and fisheries over apparent lethargy in reclaiming lost containers. Last year, the vessel YM Efficiency reported it lost 81 containers in June alone. While authorities in Australia said the ship’s operator, Yang Ming, had been quick to clear the rubbish that washed ashore, it was apparently willing to ignore debris below the surface.
