New Italian airline ITA Airways, borne from Alitalia, could be acquired, at least in part, by Lufthansa Group. According to this interesting article from Aviation24.be, Lufthansa is keen to prevent ITA from becoming too entrenched in the SkyTeam group, which includes AF-KLM and Delta, two airlines with which ITA signed codeshare agreements last month. Instead, Lufthansa would prefer ITA nestled instead in the LH airlines group of Brussels, Austrian and Swiss – and ITA Airways appears to be comfortable with LH taking a share.
