An interesting and thorough article from Bloomberg on China’s labour market – which looks set to become expensive much faster than initally predicted. The cheap, vast pool of labour factories were expecting to find in the west is no longer there, as younger workers get more choosy – and more pricey. Some manufacturers moved west – and then moved back east, citing difficulties with logistics. One economist says: “China’s advantage in low-cost manufacturing will end much sooner than expected, I believe within five years.”
