Amazon has big ideas. Not content with its command of the e-commerce market, it is now moving heavily into the warehousing and distribution business, offering its services to other e-tailers, such as eBay’s traders. It is focusing on profiting further from its growing infrastructure. With concerns over smaller retailers’ lack of know-how on shipping, especially dangerous goods, this could lead to better standards in the small goods market – but it will also mean that Amazon wields hefty control over its logistics providers too.
