Executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of FedEx Christine Richards (pictured above) has announced that she will retire from the company in September.
Ms Richards’ decision follows more than a decade leading the express operator’s legal, regulatory, governmental affairs and security groups. Chairman Fred Smith said she had been an “business partner”.
“Christine has provided bold and innovative leadership in successfully addressing a wide variety of critical legal, regulatory and security challenges and opportunities for FedEx,” said Mr Smith.
“Her untiring work ethic and in-depth knowledge of the inner workings of the business have made her service as a counselor and business partner invaluable.”
Ms Richards joined the company in 1984, serving in a variety of leadership positions over her 30-plus-year career with FedEx, and was vital in business acquisitions including that of TNT in 2015.
In a statement, the company said her successor would be named at a later date.
