Big ships do not always mean faster port handling

Drewry has come up with some interesting analysis on the relation between containership size and the speed of port handling. It notes that it’s widely believed that larger ships generally lead to faster handling, but adds that it is not automatically true and depends on gantry crane ‘intensity’ and vessel length.
