It will come as no surprise to many in the industry at the moment – but executive confidence in the logistics market is pretty poor. The air freight confidence index, while gaining a paltry 0.5 points, is 9.3 points lower than March last year. The expected outlook is flat, says the report. In sea freight things are even worse. The index declined by 1 point to 45.3 – 11.4 points lower than March last year. And in the ‘one-off’ question asked to respondents, more than half said that they would see a more pronounced dip than usual after Chinese new year. They appear to be right.
