Cargo thieves are getting better. Fewer incidents, higher values. FreightWatch recently released its latest report on US cargo crime, which revealed that the average value of thefts rose 36% to $233,000 – although this is less than half the value of thefts in 2010. The vast majority were non-violent attacks on unattended trucks – and although so far unsuccessful, thieves are starting to use jamming technology to prevent tracking.
