– Walmart’s e-commerce chief Casey Carl is leaving the big-box retailer, according to a company memo.
– He will be succeeded by Tom Ward, a Walmart executive who has led an effort to turn stores into fulfillment hubs for online grocery orders and overseen testing of drones and autonomous vehicles.
– The big-box retailer’s online sales have jumped during the pandemic, but it now must find ways to keep that momentum going.
Walmart’s e-commerce leader Casey Carl is leaving the company, according to a company memo sent on Thursday.
The top executive’s departure comes as the big-box retailer tries to capitalize on the pandemic-related growth of its online business, expand its third-party marketplace and better compete with e-commerce giant Amazon.
Carl, a longtime Target employee, became Walmart’s chief ecommerce officer in 2020. He will leave at the end of February, according to the memo…
