If you are interested in how port development is unfolding in Africa, with most of the major players competing fiercely for each proposed development, this is a useful primer. DP World, APM Terminals, Bolloré and a clutch of Chinese investors all have investments under way and are targeting more – but this being Africa, allegations of high-level corruption are never far from the surface. Despite its potential, it remains a devilishly difficult place to operate.
