The definitive account of the iPhone 6’s supply chain from Wired; full of all the gorgeous facts that make writing about 21st century logistics so engrossing at times. In fact, it doesn’t fully cover the iPhone, so complex is its supply chain, but spends the first half of the article talking about the 12,000-mile journey of just the device’s button.  And according to a new book, the intriguingly named Door to Door: The Magnificent, Maddening, Mysterious World of Transportation, by Edward Humes: “In the end, the iPhone has a transportation footprint at least as great as a 240,000-mile trip to the moon, and most or all of the way back.”
