Here’s a conundrum: despite the plethora of software products on the market which purport to help companies reduce their inventory levels, the evidence is that only one sector has actually managed to cut inventory levels over the last decade. That is high-tech. In contrast, the consumer goods, chemical and pharma sectors all appear to hold as much stock as they did 10 years ago, despite millions of dollars being invested in systems designed to do the reverse.
