Amazon is at last casting off two of its “most critical” partners, FedEx and UPS, and launching its own 3PL service, Shipping With Amazon. VentureBeat, citing a report in the Wall Street Journal, says the service will launch in LA before being rolled out to further destinations. Assuming the reports are true – with VentureBeat claiming Shipping With Amazon will deliver orders from business partners – the service will put the e-commerce outlier in direct competition with the companies that has kept it running.
