Twelve longshoremen were injured over the weekend when a container leaked propyl acetate after being loaded on to K Line’s Harbour Bridge in Long Beach. A firefighter who was trying to stop the damage was also injured after falling. Some of the flammable, toxic chemical went into the water and authorities created a 150-yard safety zone around the 9,040 teu vessel. The accident happened at Pier 6. The container has now been removed.
