China’s two main shipping companies – China Shipping and Cosco – have been haemorrhaging cash recently. Both are forecast to make big losses this year and both are looking for ways to diversify out of container, bulk and crude shipping as a way of shoring up failing balance sheets. And, both are glumly pessimistic about medium term prospects.
