It is a sad fact that in the freight business there are a lot of opportunities for fraud. And some companies appear quick to take that opportunity, while others are just bad or slow payers. Here, Freight Deadbeats has its monthly list of forwarders and shippers that have failed to do as promised, complete with amounts owed. While the largest proportion ? 16% ? stems from India, they owe small amounts. The largest creditor hails from the US. FDB also ...

    Alex,

Kenneth Yoekum himself is a “Deadbeat”. He was a licensed Customs Broker in the United States 10+ years ago but he stiffed US Customs and Steamship Lines and US Customs revoked his license.

Freight Deadbeats is owned by WCA and his brother David Yoekum who gave him this job.

What an absolute sham that these people perpetuate on the forwarding community who are unaware of the truth.

I am from Denver, currently in San Francisco, and the Yoekum boys are well known for being deadbeats themselves. David Yoekum left United Shipping and Certified Transportation Network over financial protection funds, and Kenneth Yoekum for defaulting Customs and Steamship lines.

While David Yoekum has built WCA, his background says he is not of good character, and putting his brother in charge of an industry default reporting company is arrogant and makes a mockery out of the industry.

As a journalist maybe you should do an in-depth investigation into the backgrounds and history of the Yoekum’s and think twice about publishing these articles that are self-serving promotions by the Yoekums.

Expose them and write the truth, not what they send to your company for shameless promotion.

      Tom,

Thanks for your comments. I can’t currently find evidence for all these accusations, but I think it’s worth mentioning that David Yokeum set up the WCA 17 years ago and is now a well-respected member of the freight community for his work with independent forwarders. I know many WCA members – and they seem to be happy with the services they receive, which is certainly one way of judging.

We have had many comments on the site over possible fraudulent acts – or at least non-payment – and we feel it could be useful to highlight them, to help companies avoid potential problems.

Here at The Loadstar we make every effort to write the truth, and try hard to ignore the more shameless promotions which we are sent constantly. We do apologise if we get it wrong from time to time – but if we can help forwarders not to be scammed, we will do so.

      Kind regards
      Alex
