As the deadline for Europe’s SOx rules gets closer, shipping lines are increasingly concerned about the cost. While the EU is allowing member states to help companies meet the requirements, only Finland has said it will do so, leaving shipowners unable to invest in retrofits and forcing lines to pass on the cost of distillate fuels to customers.
