It seems we still can’t get enough smartphones. Apple and Samsung each shipped almost 75 million units in the fourth quarter of last year alone. Enough phones were produced from October to December, by one estimation, to have filled 6,000 freighter aircraft. The Loadstar believes this is out by a factor of 10, but even so, the sheer level of output serves to explain why airports such as Hong Kong and Zhengzhou saw such startling growth towards the end of 2014.
