It’s 1985: new carrier Emirates launches its SkyCargo arm, in a move that will change air cargo for ever. Ram Menen, who ultimately became unofficial leader of the airfreight industry, was appointed to head the freighter operator, and he quickly assembled a team of Pradeep Kumar, Peter Sedgley and Hiran Perera – known as the gang of four – who moulded Emirates into what it is today.
