It’s not just the heavily unionised US dockers that are threatening strike action, here’s a report and analysis of strikes by entirely non-unionised Wal-Mart warehouse workers protesting against unsafe working environments, unpaid overtime and a host of other alleged employment infractions at 3PL facilities subcontracted by Walmart. Workers claimed the action a success, but one suspects that this is only the beginning rather than the end of a prolonged dispute – one warehouse manager was said to be so incensed he drove a forklift truck into a group of protestors in Illinois.
