Problems with congestion in sea ports and by air in Bangladesh could be relieved in part by a new route which has opened: overland to India. This week saw the first trial run of cargo vehicles between the two countries. The route has opened since an agreement was signed between the pair, as well as Bhutan and Nepal, to facilitate cross-border movement of vehicles. The first run saw cargo leave Dhaka on August 27 and arrive in Kolkata on August 29.
