Shippers are having to carry more inventory and plan further ahead, according to CSCMP’s State of Logistics report. Overcapacity in air and ocean, which has also seen with fewer port calls and lower frequencies, combined with capacity restraints in trucking and rail, is making logistics tougher. The report also notes the growing mismatch between logistics and the economy – in the US, logistics costs grew at a lower rate than GDP.
