Kuwait Airways has been a rather marginal player in recent years and – as everyone knows – in need of some serious restructuring if it is to emulate even part of the success of its Gulf neighbours. Well, this could be where it starts. Under its new CEO, the first woman to take up the role, it has announced that it is to slash 1,000 jobs. The target for the carrier, which employs 6,000, is to cut 4,500 jobs, but for now it is starting with the first tranche: expats in junior roles.
