It’s chaos out there. Consumer demand is all over the place, macroeconomic fundamentals are as solid as smoke and natural disasters appear to be gaining in intensity and frequency. Change is the new constant. So how do you design a supply chain to cope with these sorts of challenges? This article argues that shippers should dispense with “integrated” supply chains that have traditionally sought to squeeze cost through lean and just-in-time philosophies and embrace “dynamic” supply chains.
