A death sentence seems quite harsh for financial crime committed at work, but that is what two executives from struggling Vietnamese shipbuilder Vinashinlines received for their part in a major embezzlement.
A court found the business manager and director general of the company guilty of trousering VD260bn ($11.3m) in shipping deals between 2006 and 2008. Two others were given prison sentences.
The sentencing follows a similar case in 2012, when nine executives were imprisoned for crime at the shipbuilder.
