This top 10 countries list is based on an index supplied by the World Bank, which goes one further, or rather 150 further, ranking the performance of 160 nations on their proficiency at trade logistics.

More than 1,200 logistics professionals were surveyed on criteria including supply chain performance in such areas as infrastructure, quality of service, shipment reliability, and border clearance efficiency.

And it seems that rail has taken a hefty battering from the pros, with those polled least satisfied with the sector’s performance. Overall though, things seem to be looking up for logisticians, with standards having otherwise increased.

Those in Luxembourg may feel a bit hard done by however, having been pipped to the number one spot by one of their European neighbours.
