News from southern Africa – the Namibian government has propelled plans to develop the port of Walvis Bay, which has for a number of years been touted as a possible maritime gateway to landlocked southern countries such as Botswana, to the top of its agenda. For many years the South African ports of Durban and Cape Town have previously assumed this role, but due to ever-present congestion at both, there is every opportunity for an efficient newcomer to take a slice of the action.
