An interesting article on the future of manufacturing. As countries with large service sectors struggled during the recession, many are now starting to eye manufacturing again. The question, though, is whether developed countries can leapfrog to the factory of the future, complementing factories in developing countries. Analysts predict regional manufacturing strategies, which are part of a global network, and that the new factories will be flexible – and thus able to fulfill individual customer requirements. The time to start planning is now.
