This will be music to the ears of anyone in logistics. The World Economic Forum has issued a report at Davos, showing that if supply chain barriers were reduced, global GDP could rise 4.7% and world trade by 14.5%. The barriers cited include issues such as customs procedures, over-complex regulation and weak infrastructure. The regions that would gain most, not surprisingly, are sub-Saharan Africa and south east Asia – and could, says the report, add millions of jobs to the global workforce. Definitely worth lobbying for.
