An end to blind spots, excessive use of fuel and cyclist deaths. That is what a lorry manufacturer is claiming its new cab shape will do. Curved and aerodynamic, it will cut £1,300 off the annual fuel bill for each lorry. But it is connected to the attempts in some EU countries to allow longer lorries on the roads – which would mean that drivers would need to be well-trained and experienced. And, as one expert says: “The reality in the trucking sector is that this is not the standard at all.”
