Daniel Loeb, an activist investor with a history of bringing in new management and making his views known, has taken a stake in FedEx – although no one is saying how much of a stake. But he has made it clear that he has no intention of trying to oust Fred Smith – although he could be useful in identifying a new CEO once Mr Smith retires, say analysts.
