Jet2 has waved goodbye to dedicated Boeing 737 freighter operations, withdrawing its only remaining B737-300(F) from commercial service this week.
CH Aviation reported that G-CELW (msn 23659) was ferried to Kemble Cotswold Airport on 17 January. The final flight cuts Jet2’s mainline fleet to 20 B737-300s, 29 B737-800s and 11 B757-200s.
The aircraft had been part of a fleet operating overnight flights throughout the UK for Royal Mail under a contract which expired this month.
The decision to scrap the aircraft follows on from the carrier’s withdrawal from a tender process for a new Royal Post contract this month.
