Here’s the case for beleaguered carriers and other asset-owners operating in a world where owning all those ships and aircraft seems to have become a terrible burden. As the article points out, asset-ownership has become less than fashionable, with investors preferring asset-light companies. But assets are necessary, and not only does someone have to own them, but there are companies, such as Amazon, whose advantage stems from this ownership.
