Corporate agility has become the holy grail, the way to elude capture by the disrupters. (After all, a moving target is harder to hit.) Here, McKinsey identifies five characteristics of agile companies in a lengthy but interesting article showing how corporate management should change. It points to previous corporate incarnations – the old paradigm being organisations as machines – and how today’s new environment is unforgiving for unadaptable, top-down companies. Instead, it promotes dynamic organisations with empowered teams and rapid decision-making and learning.  If you are interested in corporate theory, this is for you.

(But if you would prefer a more irreverent look at the history of management, incorporating ‘business bullshit’, check out this article from last year in The Guardian.)
